MarineCraft Innovations (MACIN) was founded in Lospalos, Timor-Leste, with a bold and simple vision: to build a safer, more sustainable future for the people who depend on the ocean every day.

For decades, Timorese fishermen have relied on aging wooden boats — fragile, unsafe, and costly to maintain. Witnessing this reality firsthand after returning home from over 20 years working in the United Kingdom and Europe, Sidonio Ds. Santos, Enin decided to act. Combining his engineering experience from institutions such as Oxford University and Tata Consultancy Services, he founded MACIN to bring modern boat-building technology to Timor-Leste’s shores.
